Letters from the Field

A weekly newsletter for service-based solopreneurs who want to understand their numbers well enough to make real decisions with them.

Send by email

Letters from the Field lands in your inbox every Thursday.

Each edition is one idea, drawn from 30+ years of working inside the financial operations of real businesses. Not theory. Not a roundup of tips someone pulled from a search engine. One grounded insight you can carry into your week.

If you're a coach, consultant, wellness practitioner, or attorney running a service-based business, and you've ever looked at your own financials and thought "I should probably understand this better," this is where that understanding starts to build.

What to expect

Every letter is written to help you get closer to your numbers, not further from them.

That means: what your reports are actually telling you. Where the patterns show up that most solopreneurs don't notice until tax season. How to read your own business clearly enough that you stop second-guessing every financial decision.

No scare tactics. No complicated systems to implement before Friday.

Why this perspective is different

Most financial content either talks over your head or waters things down so far it stops being useful.

I write from the middle, where the real work happens. I've spent 30+ years in financial operations. I teach foundational bookkeeping as a lecturer at Hofstra University. I work with solopreneurs every week inside my mentorship and bookkeeping practice at CEO Business Balance.

That's the lens every letter comes through: someone who knows the technical side and also knows what it's like to run the business, make the decisions, and sit with the numbers yourself.

Letters from the Field is free. Information is free. That's how I've always worked.
